Dear reader: My name is Julian Juhlin. You might know me as The Virgin, or as The Boy Who Will Never Leave Home. As an artist and set designer, I enjoy rinsing and elevating things from my everyday life, smoothing and polishing them until they shine and stand radiantly clear, whether on the stage or in the cityscape. This might involve a babushka doll, a children’s room, or the silhouette of an electric-power pylon.
I’m enthralled with taking hold of time and interested in freezing selected stages of life by setting special figures in the world and putting them into time bubbles and cheese domes - with the tragedy that accompanies capturing something beautiful. I’m inspired by snow globes and icons, as keyholes for looking into the timeless world. I hope you’ll join me and take a look, too!
